Site Guide - How to . . .

Think less, live longer

Don't spend too much time trying to figure it all out. Let us show you how. We have the answers to everything.

Why can't I see what I just added to the conversation?

What does this cover exactly?
In some very rare situations a line you add to a conversation doesn't get displayed. All previous and subsequent lines display correctly.

Why does this happen?
When the conversation is updated, a record is made of when the last update was sent to you. If the update marker coincides with your most recent addition to the conversation, the chat system may not display what you say under the incorrect belief that it has already sent the particular line to your screen.

However we are not 100% sure that this is the cause as the conditions under which this may happen are so precise that it is extremely difficult to replicate. We have still to replicate this under test conditions to fully identify the cause.

How can this be overcome?
Reloading the page always resolves this. By this, we mean that you would have to fully reload the page rather than just selecting any of the links that take you to the chat area.

This can be achieved by selecting the relevant reload icon within your browser.

For most PC-Windows browsers, you can use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL-F5 or CTRL-R to achieve this. For Safari, you can use the keyboard shortcut CMD-R.

How can this be avoided?
As far as we know, there is no way of avoiding this.
