Why can't I verify my email address?
What does this cover?
When creating your profile for the first time, or when
changing your email address later, you will need to verify
your address.
When responding to the link given to you in the email you receive, you may find that your password is not accepted.
Why can this happen?
Whilst its not impossible that there is a fault with the website
(computers will be computers!), there are a few things you can
check first that will most likely solve your problem.
- Are you typing your password correctly? Your password is caSe sEnsiTIVe - "MyPassword" is not the same as "mypassword". Check that your CAPSLOCK key is not on. If it is, it will cause all that you type to be in uppercase. It is not too uncommon for this to be the cause of the problem, particularly for keyboards that don't have a capslock indicator. To be 100% sure that you are typing your password in the correct case, first try typing it elsewhere where you can see what you are typing (as the password box just reveals stars instead of revealing what you are actually typing).
- Are you responding to the correct email? An activation code will be present within the link in the email you receive. This code is not only specific to you, but specific to the email. If you have requested a new email to be sent to you, the links in previous emails will no longer work! If in doubt, request a new email. This can easily be done when you sign in.
