How do I successfully upload a video clip?

Uploading a video clip may not always be as simple as it seems. There are range of different formats for the files that store videos, and these files can dramatically vary in size.

If you find that you can't upload a video clip, we have a few pointers that may be able to help.

  1. Check the size of the file you are trying to upload We allow files up to 4 megabytes in size to be uploaded. This equates to roughly 30 seconds - 2 minutes of video, although this depends greatly on the format of your video clip. If in doubt, find the file on your computer and see how large it is. The filesize is most likely to be represented in kilobytes (KB), for example 328K, or in megabytes (MB), for example 1.2MB. One MB is equal to 1024KB.
  2. Check the format of the file you are trying to upload We allow the following format of video file to be uploaded:
    • MPEG (with filenames ending in .mpeg, .mpe or .mpg)
    • AVI (with filenames ending in .avi)
    • MOV (with filenames ending in .mov)
If the filename of your photo ends with .mpg, .mgeg, .mge, .avi or .mov, there's a fair chance that its in an allowed format.

If you still find you are having problems uploading a video clip, let us try and convert your clip into one that will work.
